Lights Up !
Introducing Lights Up! Youth Theater camps in West Seattle! Previously run as Stage Struck, we are so excited to continue offering summer theater camps at Fauntleroy YMCA/UCC.
About The Camps
Kids work together to rehearse and perform New and Modern musicals, made for kids. Actors are motivated to work together to create a performance they're proud of, finding a new community of creative kids that are kind and supportive, and having a lot of fun along the way. Lights Up strives to create a welcoming and empowering space for kids of all identities.
After two weeks of day camps, the final Friday will have an evening performance, fully staged with a live band, costumes, set, props, and lights (of course!). Your actor will not be disappointed with a special experience like performing on a stage. There's nothing like it!

Meet Lights Up Staff
Sam Turner
(Lead Teacher/Founder)
Hello! My name is Sam Turner, and I am so grateful to be running Lights Up!
I am currently teaching at Genesee Hill Elementary as a Specialist Teacher (Dance and Theater), and 2024 will be my 8th year. 2023 was my 7th summer teaching summer theater camps with Stage Struck as well.
I’ve had a passion for theater since I was a kid, and growing up, I knew it was important to pass it on and give the opportunity to a new generation of kids. I went to Western Washington University to earn degrees in Elementary Education and Theater, and currently hold a Masters in Teaching in Curriculum and Instruction.
My teaching style is actor-focused; I want students to end the camp feeling confident and proud, with a strong sense of community, and fun memories. We work hard because putting together a play is not easy, but its also called a ‘play’ for a reason: it should feel like we’re playing.
We have other incredible teaching artists, music directors, musicians, costumers, assistants, and many other adults who help make this all run.
