At Lights Up Summer Camps, over two weeks, 3 lead teachers, 1 music director, and 3 assistants work together to create a production for 40 young actors. A costume lead and live band, as well as some parent volunteers, assist as well.

Lead Teacher/Director (none needed 2024)

Responsibilities

Teaching and supervising ~13 actors at a time, ages 7-13.

Blocking and Choreographing 3 scenes and 3 songs, including one All Cast song or scene.

2 weeks, Mon-Fri from 9:15-3:15, with a performance at 7pm on the final friday.

2024 Dates: 

July 8-19, July 22-Aug 2, and Aug 5-16

Location: Fauntleroy Church

Stipend: $2100

Experience: Teachers should have multiple experiences Teaching and Directing kids, including blocking and choreographing. It helps if teachers have personal experience with musical theater performance. 

Typical Day: The day is split up into All Cast time, supported by all teachers, and Group time, led by a Teacher and assistant, and sometimes a music director.

Music Director (none needed 2024)

Responsibilities

Teaching all songs, and playing piano if possible

2 weeks, Mon-Fri from 9:15-3:15, with a performance at 7pm on the final Friday.

2024 Dates: 

July 8-19, July 22-Aug 2, and Aug 5-16

Location: Fauntleroy Church

Stipend: $1800

Experience: Music directors should have multiple experiences with kids musicals, as well as Piano. 

Typical Day: The day is split up into All Cast time, supported by all teachers, and Group time, led by a Teacher and assistant, and sometimes a music director.

Assistants (18+)

Responsibilities

Supervising actors through lunch and snacks 

Assisting teachers during work time

2 weeks, Mon-Fri from 9:15-3:15, with a performance at 7pm on the final friday.

2024 Dates: 

July 8-19, July 22-Aug 2, and Aug 5-16

Location: Fauntleroy Church

Stipend: $1200

Experience: Experience with groups of kids, and Theater

Possibly mending, fixing, or light sewing depending on experience

Roughly 12-15 hours of work
